Our People

We have a great team of professionals who care deeply about the health and safety of animals. Every one of our staff members has completed our unique, thorough training program prior to working on their own.


		Meaghan Owner/Pack Leader/Pet Sitter Pet CPR and First-Aid Certified I grew up with pets my entire life and have wanted to turn my love for animals into a career for a very long time. Well, I became a victim of the economic downturn and lost my corporate real estate marketing job. After the initial shock wore off my husband encouraged me to do what I've always wanted to, and with his help Strut the Pup was born. I deeply love what I do now and it's great to work with all of the amazing pets and people we've met!


		Tom Hession-Herzog Owner/Pack Leader/Pet Sitter Pet CPR and First-Aid Certified I don't think I've ever gone without a pet in my life, and I can't imagine doing so. Our dogs Samba and Snickers are two of the most important things in the world to me. They bring so much happiness and fun into our lives. I love working with and being around animals - if we could have a small zoo at our house we would! I like when people ask me what I do and I can honestly tell them it is the best job in the entire world.


		Diane Canine Behaviorist/Pack Leader Pet CPR and First-Aid Certified Licensed Professional Canine Behaviorist Diane is originally from the Midwest where she began her journey with dogs as a volunteer trainer. It was when she relocated to the UK in 2003 that she focused her full attention on the advanced study of dogs through the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour & Training (CIDBT). She holds certification from the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behavior & Training, is a full member of the Canine & Feline Behaviour Association (CFBA) of Great Britain, and has an accredited masters degree in Breed-Specific Behaviour from Middlesex University in London.


		Catie Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained Growing up I spent as much time as I could helping out on my Aunt's farm in rural Missouri. There I learned the responsibilities and rewards of taking care of animals, from cats and dogs to chickens, pigs, cattle and horses. Through my teen years I participated regularly in horsemanship lessons and became actively involved in leading the horsemanship program at a local summer camp. I love caring for pets of all shapes and sizes and getting to know their unique personalities and individual needs!


		Erin Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained Growing up I was constantly around animals. I took the chance to dog and cat sit whenever possible and volunteered at the local humane society. I moved to Seattle last year and the first thing I did was sign up to volunteer at the Seattle Animal Shelter, where I walk dogs. When I looked at how I chose to spend my free time I realized that taking care of pets was the perfect job for me. Seeing how excited a dog can be by simply pulling out a leash makes my day.


		Brittany Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained I've always loved animals growing up and spent many summers as a child walking the neighborhood dogs and bringing home stray cats. Since then I have continued to walk dogs throughout the years loving every one as my own. I have always known I wanted to work with animals in one way or another, and wouldn't want to spend my days doing anything else. I am the proud mom of my princess Gia who has inspired me in so many ways and feel privileged to be able to help people and their pets.


		Drew Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained From gerbils to dogs, I have always had pets in my life in one way or another. I learned early on in life how beneficial the love that a pet brings to a home is, and what it takes to care for them. I have a special fondness for elderly and disabled dogs and am the proud parent of a deaf Catahoula named Fenway. Learning how to care for and train Fenway has been a wonderful experience. There is nothing more gratifying than a happy, healthy pup!


		Deborah Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained As a young girl, animals were my first love and my truest companions. My first “real job” was at the local humane society shelter where I spent my weekends and summers. Over the years I’ve loved and cared for so many amazing and adorable critters. It is my great pleasure and privilege to contribute to the health and happiness of the Strut the Pup Pack members, as they contribute to mine with their unconditional love and cold-nose blessings.


		Leah Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained I've cared for all kinds of animals throughout my life: dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, you name it! And I love them all. I'm really excited to give excellent service to pet-owners and pets, giving them peace of mind knowing their beloved family is in loving hands while they are away. I currently have a 9-year-old black Lab/Weimaraner mix who pretty much adopted me, not the other way around. He's incredibly sweet, energetic, and does not act like the senior he is!


		Scott Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained I've been all about dogs for as long as I can remember. My family has always owned corgis, but whenever we'd visit friends or family with dogs you bet I'd be fast friends with them. While attending UW I spent two summers working for a groomer, which was fun but didn't allow me to spend much time socializing with the dogs. Now I get to hang out with dogs all day! This is truly a dream job for me.


		Monica Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained I constantly pestered my parents for a dog when I was a kid. By the time I was 13 they finally caved in and got a golden retriever puppy we named Zeke. It wasn't until then that I learned what unconditional love from a pet can do for ones soul. I currently own 2 awesome cats named Scooter and Timber. I'm a certified Vet Assistant and have lots of experience with dogs and cats. Being around animals makes me happier than anything else, and I love having a job where I can play with happy dogs every day.


		Casey Pack Leader/Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained I was born a dog lover and days I don't get to play with dogs are sad days indeed! This makes dog walking and pet sitting the best job in the world for me! Not only do I get to actively enjoy the outdoors every day, I get to do it with my favorite animals on Earth! Dogs and cats too bring such joy to our lives and I am happy to be in the business of keeping them happy and healthy.


		Jen Pet Sitter Pet CPR and First-Aid Certified I have been fascinated with and passionate about animals since I was a tiny kid. Growing up we had pets ranging from a family of donkeys to guinea pigs to many cats and dogs. I have devoted my life and my career to benefiting animals - I am a biologist for an environmental consulting firm working to protect wildlife. Nothing is more satisfying than a good snuggle with an appreciative and loving pet!


		Katie Pet Sitter Pet CPR and First-Aid Certified I grew up with dogs both big and small, and love them all! Pet sitting is a great way for me to spend time with a variety of breeds and get to know different personalities. I LOVE being a pet sitter. It is very rewarding taking care of pets while owners are away – I think of every one of them as my own.


		Aireanna Pet Sitter STP 1-2-3 Trained I recently completed a seasonal job at McMurdo Research Station in Antarctica and am back home to pursue a veterinary technician certification. Over the years I have gained experience working with just about every kind of critter you could think of. I have worked on horse farms, worked with injured birds of pray in the exotic ward at the WSU vet hospital, spent time working with Howler Monkeys in Panama, volunteered at the Woodland Park Zoo, and have learned basic medical care in small animal care vet offices. I have worked with animals my entire life and I believe a house isn't a home without a pet.

Our unique staff training program involves three important steps:

The Fundamentals. More than 20 hours of hands-on training with a Strut the Pup owner. New staff members are exposed to a wide variety of dogs of all breeds, ages and obedience levels, and learn the fundamentals of pet management and the regular responsibilities of a pet care professional.
Canine Behavior. At least two days of hands-on training with our on-staff, professional canine behaviorist. Staff members learn general canine behavior philosophy and different techniques for on-leash obedience training. In addition staff members complete a course of independent study during their first month, with follow-up sessions throughout the year.
Emergency Preparedness. Completion of Pet CPR and First Aid Certification. Emergencies do happen, and it is important that all of our staff members know what to do in case a pet under their care needs urgent medical attention.

We are the only pet care company in the Seattle area that requires and provides such extensive training for our staff members. We love our job - pet care is a lot of fun - but we want you to know that we also take our responsibility very seriously.
