Q: I'm thinking of getting a Viszla. Can you recommend this breed? Is there anything I should know? - Alex, Seattle
A: It's difficult to recommend a breed without better understanding the owner, so I'll address this question in a backwards manner -
The perfect owner of a Vizsla is energetic with strong leadership skills and the desire to include their dog in their activities and lifestyle. The owner should also be gentle and sensitive to the Vizsla's good-tempered and affectionate nature - above all ensuring the dog is valued as a companion.
When I visualize a happy, well-balanced Vizsla's I see the breed interactively engaged with their family, responsive to each other in their respective relationships. The mis-guided Vizsla is often isolated, ignored and making their own reckless decisions.
