Ever since NPR did a segment on him recently, this fish with a funny name has become one famous pet. The black pacu has now lived more than twice as long as the average lifespan of pacus.

Tipping the scales at more than 20 pounds and measuring 23 inches long, Buttkiss spends his days swimming back and forth in a 4-foot-long, 75-gallon tank.

While some fans gripe about Buttkiss' cramped confines, Steve Gruebel, Buttkiss' owner, fears a bigger home could jinx him. "I'm afraid if I move him, he may not survive the changing environment," Gruebel said yesterday.
